A refined digital experience designed to support connection, education, and innovation within dermatology.

Dermatologists in Industry (DII) is a nonprofit association bringing together professionals across dermatology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, cosmetics, research, and regulatory affairs.

Created for a growing network of dermatology professionals, the refreshed brand and website for Dermatologists in Industry balances clean, professional design with a more welcoming and community-oriented experience. Through a refined visual identity, scalable web system, and custom iconography, the project helped modernize the organization while creating a stronger foundation for events, educational resources, and member engagement.

Dermatologists in Industry approached the project looking for a more cohesive and modern identity system that could better support the organization’s growing community and digital needs. Existing branding lacked consistency across platforms and applications, making it difficult to implement effectively across event tools, communications, and web experiences.

At the same time, the organization needed a new website infrastructure capable of housing scientific resources, event information, and member-focused content in a way that felt intuitive and easy to manage internally.

The challenge became creating a system that felt informed and professional without leaning too heavily into the cold or overly clinical aesthetics often associated with healthcare organizations. The identity needed to support credibility within the medical and scientific space while still feeling approachable and community-driven.

The visual direction focused on creating a clean, structured identity system inspired by sterile environments, modern interfaces, and simplified geometric forms. Early explorations centered around minimal wordmarks and traditional medical symbols, but the process eventually shifted toward developing a more distinctive and recognizable brand mark that could function more effectively across sponsorships, conferences, and digital applications.

The final identity balances angular forms and minimal layouts with softer gradients, approachable typography, and custom iconography to create a system that feels both polished and welcoming.

Typography played an important role in shaping the tone of the brand. A clean sans-serif type system was selected to reinforce professionalism and clarity while still carrying enough personality to avoid feeling overly corporate or impersonal.

Beyond the visual refresh, the project involved designing and developing a fully scalable website experience tailored to the organization’s operational needs. The new platform included several CMS structures that allowed the DII team to more easily manage event information, publish scientific resources, and update content as the organization continued to grow.

A flexible icon system and supporting brand patterns were also developed to bring warmth and consistency into the experience across web applications, event assets, and digital materials.

The overall system was intentionally designed to remain adaptable across a wide range of touchpoints, including conference materials, sponsorship assets, member communications, presentation templates, and event planning platforms.

The refreshed identity and redesigned website gave Dermatologists in Industry a stronger and more cohesive digital presence while improving usability for both members and internal organizers.

The updated system helped modernize the organization’s visual identity without losing the professionalism and credibility essential within the healthcare space. More importantly, it created a more welcoming experience centered around connection, education, and community-building within the dermatology industry.

One of the most successful aspects of the project was the website execution itself, particularly the implementation of scalable CMS systems that made ongoing management significantly more streamlined for the organization moving forward.
